What is CNC Turning & Process?

In turning, the cutting tool moves linearly as the workpiece rotates to make symmetrical cylindrical or spherical components. Turning is cutting a workpiece with a CNC lathe. Turning reduces a workpiece's diameter and smooths its surface. Turning centres are CNC lathes (CNC). Sophisticated turning center can also perform a variety of milling and drilling operations.

What is a CNC Turning Center?

CNC turning centers are advanced computer numerically controlled machines. They can have 3, 4, or even 5 axes with a multitude of cutting capabilities, including milling, drilling, tapping, and of course, turning. Often these machines have an enclosed setup to ensure any cut material, coolant, and components remain within the machine.

What is the Difference Between CNC Turning Centers and CNC lathes?

CNC turning centres are more sophisticated CNC lathes. Both machines rotate a material bar, allowing the cutting tool to remove material from the bar until only the desired result remains. In contrast, lathes normally have just two axes and a single spindle, whereas turning centres can have up to five axes and are considerably more versatile in terms of their cutting capabilities. In addition, lathes lack a safe inclosure and lack the high output capacities of turning centres.

Advantages of CNC Turning

● Ideal process for making round profiles
● highly accurate
● Highly versatile,
● Cost efficiency
